As the final general tickets were released to the market last weekend, it brought home for rugby fans, that there is a countdown to the September event. It is soon fans ‘last chance’ for Rugby World Cup ticket sales…..Do Not Delay!
From World Rugby, the reminder email has increased the awareness and highlighted the countdown to the September pinnacle event in Japan. The message was ‘in order to have the best spectator experience possible, and not to be let down or misled, ensure that you only buy Rugby World Cup match tickets, supporter tours, hospitality and merchandise from official sources.’
The timeline is counting down: less than 250 days, with the Final scheduled to be played on November 2nd – it does not leave long for those who wish to be a part of the third most popular world’s sports fixture, time to organize a seat.
So what can Last Word on Rugby fans do?
Last Chance for Rugby World Cup ticket sales
A public ballot was used to begin the share of public ticket allocation. So for those who may not have been fortunate against the huge demand for tickets, last weekend was the ‘final chance’ to secure a general admission ticket, before demand outstrips supply.
And the demand will be high. In a new region [Asia] the local sports fan will definitely wish to experience one of the worlds leading sports events. And include the offshore visiting sports fan, that will mean competition for the limited numbers.
Last year’s official ticket ballots saw record demand with more than 4.5 million applications, meaning that demand for this tournament is already higher demand for Rugby World Cup ticket sales – hence last weekends marketing to emphasize the limited availability.
They also wish to focus on two areas of recent concern for rugby fans.
Fans are encouraged to look at all of the available avenues to purchase tickets via allocation, but RWC is also a pathway for families and rugby fans to utilize official Rugby World Cup 2019 official Supporter Tour and Hospitality programmes.
The local community and rugby fans across Asia will be counting down the days. They too would have been excited by the ballot, and with final general sale tickets being available, the ‘Sold Out’ sticker might be put up sooner than some fans would wish.
While local fans are ‘feeling the love’ for Rugby, outside of the sport, politics have offended some. The choices by the Japanese government to restart whaling within their own waters has created controversy. Some have been offended, some even choosing to boycott the event (after purchasing tickets) so that politically-based call to return tickets has developed it’s own market.

An official ticket re-sale service is being considered to allow fans who are unable to use their Rugby World Cup 2019 match tickets to sell their tickets to other fans in a safe and secure way (excludes bundle tickets or tickets purchased from or issued by an Authorised Agent).
