A Tense Affair

Both sides showed signs of being under pressure. Handling was an issue, as well as conceding penalties at inopportune times. This was amplified by a very expectant South African crowd who had high hopes of winning two out of two against their traditional opponents from New Zealand. Walking from the parking lot to the stadium, there were literally thousands of Springbok fans tailgating next to their cars, with braai fires burning.

The Springboks will be very disappointed with this loss. They dominated most of the game, but lost the scoreboard battle. Their inability to close a game out hurt them badly on Saturday. This will give Head Coach Rassie Erasmus a lot to think about as he starts to prepare for the November outgoing tour to Europe.
